Fact/Fiction: Driving Truth into Policy Debates
Hosted by The Edward R. Murrow Center for a Digital World at The Fletcher School at Tufts University
An incisive and practical panel discussion that uses the example of EconoFact.org to directly address what can be done today in news and social media to combat the corrosive effects of glib and highly partisan policy debates that are affecting our country’s future. If in such discussions, we as a society can’t agree on the relevant facts, then the nation itself loses a common base for constructive debate and policy will suffer.
The panel conversation will further touch upon the potential of the academy as an active and agnostic participant in public policy debates, as well as upon reimagined civic-duty capabilities of local media as clear-eyed analysts of national policy.
