Leveraging Sustainable Design to Achieve Social Equity
Hosted by Payette
Sustainable design is typically defined by the triple bottom line – work that provides environmental, social and economic benefits. The City of Boston faces challenges in regards to sustainably designing the future – it’s a coastal city at great risk for sea level rise. Planning for a resilient, sustainable future impacts everyone who lives and works in the city. While those in the design and construction industry have direct ties to the city’s sustainable future, every individual has an impact on our environment. Additionally, Boston has the biggest economic disparity between racial groups in the 100 biggest cities in the United States. Because of the urgency in the City of Boston to address sustainable design, resiliency and social equity, this event focuses on the intersection of these issues. Hear from experts in the fields of sustainable design and equitable practice. Through a series of interactive exercises, you can develop your own strategies for bringing sustainable design and social equity to the forefront of city-wide dialogue and action. Every individual has an impact on our environment and this event focuses on each person as a steward of a sustainable, resilient and equitable future for the City of Boston.
