Blockchain technology is arguably the most promising, and most hyped, emerging technology. It has the potential to fundamentally disrupt a significant number of industries and change the way that society works – from the way we vote and pay for services to how music and other goods are distributed.

Should you believe all the hype? What effects might blockchain have on you and your neighbors? This event will feature demos, discussions, and a roundtable seeking to demystify a seemingly esoteric, complex concept and make it real and tangible. In addition, technical deep-dive sessions will be offered as part of the programming for interested attendees. Award winning journalist and host of WBUR’s On Point, Tom Ashbrook, will moderate the discussion.

The program includes:

  • Opening remarks and keynote with Tom Ashbrook, Host, On Point, WBUR and Don Anderson, CIO, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston: 2-2:30PM
  • Blockchain 101 with Anders Brownworth, Principal Engineer, Circle Internet Financial: 2:30-3:30PM
  • Roundtable Discussion with Tom Ashbrook; Anders Brownworth; Gari Singh, Blockchain CTO, IBM;  Chelsea Barabas, Head of Social Innovation, Digital Currency Initaitive, MIT; RJ Krawiec, Principal, Deloitte Consulting; and Hadley Stern, SVP Fidelity Investments: 3:30-4:15
  • Entrepreneur Demos: 4:15-5:00PM
  • Reception or Blockchain 201: 5:00-6:00PM

Who it’s for: fintech, techies, entrepreneurs, anyone who’s curious about the potential impacts of blockchain technology
Vibe: provocative, informative, approachable
